Empire is a British film magazine published monthly by Bauer Consumer Media of Hamburg based Bauer Media Group. From the first issue in July 1989, the magazine was edited by Barry Mcllheney and published by Emap. Bauer purchased Emap Consumer Media in early 2008. Published in the United Kingdom, Empire organises the annual Empire Awards which were sponsored by Sony Ericsson, and from 2009 sponsored by Jameson. The awards are voted for by readers of the magazine.

There are seven (7) things that makes a perfect magazines. First thing first, the masthead also known as the name of magazine was written clearly on the top of the magazine so that people will recognize the name of the magazine. For this magazine, the red color has been use to strike the eyes of the reader.
Next is about the selling lines which located on top of the masthead that said ''the world's biggest movie magazine''. The selling lines can also be a tagline of the magazine.
Furthermore, the magazine also stated the released date of magazine volume so that the readers are aware of the current volumes and it is very important especially for complete volume collections for the magazine. For example, the Empire magazine states that its an August 2008 volume.
Then, focal point of the magazine is the main image that shows a main actor of Harry Potter movie. Apart from that, the main image is contrasting to the background of the magazine.
In other hand, there are several main cover line for the readers about other movies movie too.
The cover lines is about the massive preview of several upcoming movies so that the reader are well-aware to synopsis, line story and more.
Last but not least, to store the details of its publisher or tracking the book usage, a magazine do need a barcode too. For instance, there is barcode on the bottom right of the magazine so that people can recheck the price eventhough it has been stated on the masthead.
